How We Rebuilt Digital Grading Company Into the Future of AI Grading

Starting Over: Why We Tore It Down and Built It Back Better

If you were around for the first version of Digital Grading Company, formerly known as Optic Edge, you know we had a bold vision—but we also had problems. We grew too quickly, and our systems weren’t robust enough to keep up. Our team struggled to effectively build for and respond to the feedback from collectors.

We weren’t happy with inconsistent results, a clunky user experience, and the fact that collectors didn’t trust AI grading. So, we made a decision: shut it down, rebuild from scratch, and create something truly groundbreaking.

For 566 days, we went back to the drawing board. We questioned everything. We ripped apart old models, built new AI frameworks, and tested our system against thousands of real-world graded cards. The result? DeepMint AI—an entirely new way to grade, price, and predict the value of trading cards.

What Went Wrong? Owning Our Mistakes

We’ll be the first to admit it: Optic Edge wasn’t good enough. We built advanced AI models, but we didn’t connect deeply enough with collectors. We graded cards, but we didn’t explain how our AI worked in a way that made sense. Some collectors felt like AI grading was a black box, and they didn’t trust the results.

We also grew faster than we could build, which meant our systems weren’t strong enough to scale effectively. The demands of rapid expansion pushed us to move quickly—but at the cost of building a truly solid, long-term solution. That wasn’t good enough.

Traditional grading services like PSA and BGS have a decades-long reputation built on human expertise. We knew that if we were going to change the game, we had to be more than just fast and digital—we had to be accurate, transparent, and genuinely useful.

Rebuilding With a New Mission

Instead of tweaking what we had, we tore it down and built something entirely new. Our multi-disciplinary team of physicists, mathematicians, and AI engineers focused on three key areas:

1️⃣ Accuracy That Earns Trust – We trained DeepMint AI on a massive dataset of graded cards, ensuring it can replicate human grading standards while eliminating bias. 2️⃣ Transparency That Makes Sense – Every grade now comes with a full breakdown of why your card received its score, complete with AI-generated visuals and insights. 3️⃣ Real Market Value, Not Guesswork – We integrated real-time sales data from TCGPlayer, eBay, and local card shops so you can see exactly what your card is worth today—and where its price is heading.

What’s Different Now?

Our new AI-powered grading system doesn’t just spit out a grade—it gives collectors a DeepMint AI Report, packed with everything you need to buy, sell, trade, and invest smarter. The AI doesn’t just grade condition; it predicts market trends, suggests optimal selling times, and even identifies potential trade opportunities.

Most importantly? We made the entire experience fast, easy, and built for real collectors. No more waiting months for results. No more vague grading reports. Just instant, data-driven insights that help you make better collecting decisions.

The Future of AI Grading Starts Here

The old way of grading was slow, expensive, and inconsistent. We built DeepMint AI to fix that. Now, you get accurate AI grading, real-time pricing insights, and expert-level collecting strategies—all in one simple app.

We took the hard road to get here, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Because grading isn’t just about condition—it’s about knowing your cards, understanding the market, and making smart moves.
